Earth Day Ladybugs and Movie Night Is Outta Sight

Call it a double bill if you like, but my family just came home from another Palmetto Bay family night in the park.

It started with the final release of ladybugs into our environment in celebration of Earth Week 2010.  The kids ran ahead of Mayor Eugene Flinn to the release site.

All week long, Megan and Bill had been to school events and other sites to release other ladybugs... 26,000 in all.

Once in the area, these bags filled with 300 ladybugs each, were cut open and the kids had a blast letting them go.

The video is a blast to watch...

Next, it was over to the silver screen to watch "Planet 51" with the Mayor, the community and family.

The sun took a bit longer than expected to set, but eventually we had a beautiful sunset.

...and then Mayor Flinn thanked the event sponsors and got the film rolling.

Good times, good times.  Thanks again Palmetto Bay for a great family evening.
