County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava Opens New Campaign Office

It’s almost that time of year again. Less than 60 days from now (August 20), the people of Miami-Dade County will have an opportunity to go to the polls and vote in the non-partisan Primary Election.

It is very interesting how Miami-Dade County handles the non-partisan  Primary, too. If one candidate gets 50% or more of the vote, they’ll win the race immediately, with no voting needed during the General Election in November.

There are several declared candidates for Mayor of Miami-Dade County: Daniella Levine Cava (incumbent mayor), Manny Cid (mayor of Miami Lakes), Carlos Garín (actor and candidate for Florida's 28th congressional district in 2022), Alexander Otaola (social media influencer and activist) Miguel Quintero (trapeze artist), Eddy Rojas (cargo and transportation executive) and Shlomo Danzinger (former mayor of Surfside). Cava hopes for a ‘one-and-done’ on August 20. To that end, she is putting on a full-court press right now.

On May 19, Daniella Levine Cava addressed around 100 people at her South Miami campaign office opening (6202 S. Dixie Hwy). Most attendees were volunteers eagerly awaiting the opportunity to help DLC win another four years in office.

“I’m Daniella Levine Cava, your Miami-Dade County Mayor, and I am thrilled to be here,” exclaimed Daniella. “In 2020, our people-powered grassroots campaign made history when I was selected as our first woman Mayor of Miami-Dade County.” She went on to remind people that this was her 10th year in elected office and that it wasn’t her plan to be a career politician.

Encircled by supporters, Cava went on to say, “I ran because of you. I won because of you and I’ve done a heck of a good job because of you. And I’m going to win again, because of you.”

DLC plans to open 12 total campaign offices to make sure volunteers throughout the County can easily come in to pick up materials, yard signs and make calls to reach out to residents and get them out to vote. 

“We’re fighting for progress and delivering results for a future-ready Miami-Dade,” exclaimed Daniella. If you are local, please get out and vote. Being the middle of the summer, voter turnout tends to be light. Democracy works when the people vote.
