All Smiles in Palmetto Bay

When Dr. Greg Ross heads into work at his new office located at Old Cutler Road and SW 168th Street, it’s all about being straight with his patients. And no wonder, Greg is the head orthodontist at Smiles of Palmetto Bay, an office that combines orthodontics and children’s dentistry.

Ross cut his teeth at Orthodontics of South Miami with Leonard Rothenberg over the past six years and remains there in addition to spending several days a week in his new Palmetto Bay shop. Ross grew up in Miami and attended Palmetto Middle and High School.

His new office opened in February, but quickly succumbed to the Covid-19 lockdown. It wasn’t until May that Smiles of Palmetto Bay started to see patients again with new personal protection protocols in place.

Ross’ mission is simple. Ever since being a patient of Dr. Rothenberg many years back, he has wanted to bring smiles to as many people as possible. “This is my next chapter. I get to bring orthodontia closer to people in Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay,” explains Ross. “We have a brand-new office with the latest 3D technology, including an iTero scanner, and now we are totally Covid-friendly.”

Don’t let the children’s aspect fool you. Lots of adults are utilizing Dr. Ross’ talents, especially when it comes to Invisalign technology. I am a prime example of this, having recently completed having my teeth straightened again. The first time was with the old-school braces when I was thirteen.

“We are seeing more adults today than ever before,” remarked Ross. “The technology allows us to treat adults in a more comfortable and aesthetical way. It’s about correcting teeth in a quicker, easier and more accurate fashion.”

One of the amazing new tools in Dr. Ross’ office is the iTero 3D scanner. By waving a camera wand around a patients’ mouth, a digital scan is produced in real-time. This, in turn, allows for a digital impression to be made and an incredibly accurate treatment plan can be implemented from there.

“Invisalign has been out for more than 20 years and has evolved strongly. At this point in time, we are [in almost every case] able to get the same results with Invisalign as with the much more invasive standard braces,” exclaimed Dr. Ross.

Outside of the office. Dr. Ross doesn’t stand still. He has volunteered his time at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital for years with the craniofacial team. He enjoys immensely the smiles he gets from the pro bono patients he treats both there and at his two professional offices. “Those kids are some of the most bubbly and happiest I know. It is so rewarding to see them smile.” Greg is also involved at many of the area schools and community centers.
