Beth Am’s Rabbi Baumgard Road

On October 21, 2016 Congregation Beth Am and the Village of Pinecrest unveiled a road sign to signify the April 15th passing of founding Rabbi Herbert Baumgard at the age of 95.

Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner, who like Baumgard, hailed from Norfolk, Virginia, took time to mention that her family members are proud members of Temple Beth Am and how much she appreciated Rabbi Baumgard’s involvement not only in the synagogue, but to the community in general.

Sons Jonathan and Daniel Baumgard made brief statements, “In 1956, I remember we put the first shovels in the ground here. It’s been a wild and wonderful ride. We appreciate the current clergy and [everyone] for keeping Beth Am going strong.”
