New Fuddruckers Coming to Palmetto Bay

I like a good Fuddruckers burger. They are fresh, juicy and, when they first started popping up thirty years ago, they were certainly a special treat.  Recently, it's been tough to find a Fuddruckers restaurant.

In fact, the one at SW 104st and US-1 in the outparcel of KMart was a great destination for my family for years.  Unfortunately, about five years ago, there was some kind of franchise battle and the owner of that restaurant changed the name to Betty's Best Burgers.  Same good food, but no Fuddruckers name.

Then, two months ago, Betty's Best Burgers closed its doors permanently.  I really felt like there was a hole in the area for a good burger like this.

Luckily, a sign in Palmetto Bay caught my eye a few months earlier.  It was a SOLD sign on a former fitness center and the name Fuddruckers was on it.  Well, today it was officially announced that Fuddruckers restaurant will open in 2012 in 7,643 square feet on South Dixie Highway and SW 148th Street.

I find it a bit ironic that this belly buster restaurant, known for oversized burgers, will replace a Bally's Fitness Center.  Go figure!
