Palmetto Bay Annual Celebration Picnic

The 8th Annual Palmetto Bay Celebration Picnic is drawing near!  On March 6, 2010 from 11a-2p, the Village will once again turn Coral Reef Park into a massive funfest in celebration of the incorporation of Palmetto Bay back in 2002.

Enjoying the 2009 Village Picnic

By far, this is my favorite Village event.  As a resident, it not only brings me joy, but also pride.  In an age where many communities are cutting programs and just getting by, Palmetto Bay once again proves that fiscal resonsibility and prudent behavior, coupled with the spirit to celebrate yields great results.

There is nothing quite like this picnic.  It brings simplistic joy to our complex lives.  Where else can you walk or bike to your town's local park and partake in a real community celebration for free?

No wonder, it is expected that more than 3000 people will attend this year's picnic.  The 2010 picnic offers entertainment by local schools (Christ Fellowship, Palmer Trinity, and Coral Reef Elementary), kids activities including several new bounce-house type attractions, local fire and police demonstrations, and great food – including everyone’s favorite: roasted corn-on-the-cob.

Last year, a new "Tour of Historic Palmetto Bay" bus tour was launched.  The Village used the IBus to take residents to various local points of interest.  This year the tour is expanded and two 30-minute bus rides will be available.  Sign up at the Historic Preservation Advisory Board booth that morning to reserve a seat.

No doubt that the people who enjoy the picnic most is our kids.  With face painting, cotton candy, sno-cones and booths dedicated to kid fun, the picnic always captivates the little ones.

See you out there!
